5 Ways To Stay Social During COVID

5 Ways To Stay Social In A Socially Distant World

Living during the times of corona has been hard on a lot of people. One of the biggest areas of life beyond health that’s been a problem is the difficulty of sustaining a social life. With chances of infection being significantly higher in groups, it’s not exactly ideal to go out to bars or restaurants to meet people right now. If you wanna get some tips on how to be social in a responsible way, read on.

Here are some ways to stay involved and social in your life while in corona-ville:

Get Bumble BFF

I’ll start this off by saying this is not sponsored but is a tried and true great way to meet new people near you. For some people this can be a little awkward at first since it’s basically a blind date but for friends. However, you’d be surprised how many genuine relationships I’ve met on Bumble BFF! I’ve found this app to be a great way to meet people with similar interests, and you already know for sure everyone shares a goal of wanting to make friends. Everyone’s experience will be different (meaning you might not find your future bridesmaid from the first swipe) but don’t give up on. After a few conversations, and getting past all the awkwardness, this app could help you find the right people to help get you through this quarantine.

Join Clubs or Local Organizations

During this time, you might think a lot of social activities have been canceled until further notice. You might be surprised to learn that many clubs are still meeting. Whether it’s on zoom or in a socially distanced meeting place, things like local activist groups and school organizations are still taking the time to pursue their common interests. This is a great way to find something to put on your resume and meet people with similar interests.

Get a Job

This is another double whammy: make friends and make money. Sounds like a win-win to me! Work friends don’t have to just be work friends. You can bond over the terrible pay and annoying boss over some cocktails and french fries. Just make sure you’re still staying safe and following the social distancing rules!

Meet Your Neighbors

When was the last time you actually spoke with your neighbors? Well good news for you, it’s never too late to meet your neighbors. Afterall, they’re probably in the same boat as you. Stop by your neighbor’s house and just say hey! Offer to have a little get together and bring a tasty treat with you. Don’t forget to wear your mask next door!

Post a Bio Online

I know it can be awkward, but the internet is such a great tool to use right now to meet people! Use social media like you used your college introduction boards. Say hey, this is me, this is what I like to do, and here’s a picture of me and my cat. Let me know if you’d like to hang out! Again, this is another way to find people with similar interests.

I think it’s super important to realize that people are experiencing the same feelings you are about not being able to meet new people right now. The only thing you can do is put yourself out there and make an effort to meet someone new. So, don’t be shy, go out there and mingle. Bottom line, there are tons of ways to meet new people, and even if it’s a bit more difficult right now doesn’t mean it’s hopeless. So go out there and mingle! New friends await.
